Rick Ely "Circle Game" (1971)

The only thing I remember about Rick Ely was that he was one of those teen heart throb actors from the early 1970s. He used to be on a TV series called "The Youung Rebels" that lasted for one season in 1970. In 1971 Ely released 2 singles that became local hits in Hawaii. These two singles were "Circle Game" and "Morning Girl."

"Circle Game" is a song written by Joni Mitchell and became a pop hit by Mr. Ely in Hawaii. The record got heavy airplay on radio station KKUA in Honolulu and made it to their weekly top 20 chart. It was also a hit on other radio stations in the state of Hawaii. As far as I know, "Circle Game" did not make it to the Billboard Hot 100, or at least the top 40 portion of it.

Rick Ely's "Circle Game" is a cutesy 70's hit that is somewhat beyond the bubblegum pop that was popular at the time. The B-side to this record is a song called "The Last Thing On My Mind." The 45 was issued on RCA Victor.

CD AVAILABILITY: As far as I know this song and Rick Ely's music is not available on CD.
